Archaeological landscapes are those parts of our natural and built environment that are usually officially marked as cultural heritage and/or protected areas due to their relevance to our contemporary life as indicators of cultural identity materializing cultural history. As such, they are subject to public interest at local, regional, national and international level, not the least as assets marketed as tourism destinations in our globalized world.
The programme consists of lectures by the participating experts on various topics, workshops along selected themes to be introduced in these lectures, and complementary field work. The following design phase aims to integrate the practical documentation and analyses with the theoretical framework drawn during the lecture wherein each one of the participating fields of specialization would introduce their basic principles, objectives and methods of working in archaeological landscapes. This corresponds to 4 ECTS credits.
As an ERASMUS IP project, Archaeological Landscapes – Preservation, Design, Use is conducted in the frame of the Lifelong Learning Programme by the European Commission and under the auspices of Izmir Institute of Technology.
